A People's Movement for a Drug-Free New Kerala

Operation Thoofan 2.0 - People's Anti-Drug Movement

Operation Thoofan 2.0

Operation Thoofan 2.0 is a comprehensive anti-drug initiative implemented with people's participation with the objective of creating a Drug-Free New Kerala.

1. Introduction to the Project

Operation Thoofan 2.0 is a comprehensive people's initiative aimed at completely eliminating the use and trade of drugs in Kerala and creating a "Drug-Free New Kerala".

The project is jointly implemented by the Home Department, Local Self Government Department (LSGD), and Excise Department.

In the second phase, Thoofan 2.0 focuses on actively mobilising the public in anti-drug activities and creating a grassroots-level prevention mechanism under the leadership of local self-government institutions.

2. Major Objectives

2.1

Reducing Demand

One of the major objectives is to completely eliminate the demand for drugs in society, particularly among the younger generation.

The project addresses the circumstances that lead young people towards drug use and promotes social awareness against drug abuse.

2.2

People's Resistance

Another major objective is to implement anti-drug resistance through people's participation rather than treating it as the responsibility of government departments alone.

Emphasis is placed on ensuring anti-drug awareness in every ward and household.
